E-commerce giant Amazon has started delivering orders by drone in the US states of California and Texas, aiming to have packages flown to customers' homes within an hour.
Customers in Rockford, California and College Station, Texas recently received a small number of packages delivered by drone via Amazon's Amazon Prime Air drone service, reports The Verge.
“Our goal is to safely fly drones into the air. We are starting with these communities and will gradually expand delivery to more customers over time,” she said on Amazon. Air spokeswoman Natalie Banke said in a statement.

In 2020, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) granted the company Part 135 approval for delivering packages by drone. Customers residing in Rockford and College Station are eligible to log in to place an order, and Amazon will notify customers residing elsewhere when drone delivery becomes available in their area.
According to the report, customers can expect to receive tracking information and an approximate delivery time after placing their order, and have the drone deliver the package to their garden.
